Admission requirements for Single Honours MA: Information
Language requirements: Evidence of proficiency in two modern foreign languages, of which one must be at least on level B2 of the CEFR and the other on at least level A2, must be submitted. The certificate of university entrance qualification can be accepted as proof of sufficient language skills. If not sufficient, you will have to submit equivalent language certificates or certificates. Applicants whose first language is not German must have sufficient knowledge of German and have to prove a further foreign language at level A2.

Note for international applicants: For the enrolment at the Faculty of Humanities certified proficiency in German language is required!

01 May - 15 June for applicants from Germany and the EU and citizens of a foreign country with German entitlement to university admission (e.g. Abitur).

General Information
The field of Intercultural German Studies explores conceptual, theoretical and methodological aspects of interculturalism. The Intercultural German Studies / German as a Foreign Language Program at the University of Göttingen focuses primarily on the scientific description of German language and culture as well as its transmission in intercultural contexts. The Department of Intercultural German Studies, located within the Department of German Philology, was founded in 2004 by Prof. Dr. Hiltraud Casper-Hehne. The Department promotes diverse international cooperation, which has resulted in numerous scientific projects concerning intercultural and contrast-cultural themes.

Career Opportunities for Graduates of the Masters Program "Intercultural German Studies / German as a Foreign Language"
Graduates of the Program work on questions of interculturalism and on the description and transmission of language and culture in both private and public
institutions. They work for international organizations, institutions and foundations which - in the context of internationalization and globalization
- focus on questions of cultural representation, initiate intercultural exchange and dialogue and accompany these processes by providing information and practical help. Graduates find employment in the areas of publishing and media organizations where, for example, they are involved in the compilation and development of teaching materials or they work in (language) schools throughout Germany or abroad, in university departments teaching German as a Foreign Language, in institutions of adult education, or in cultural institutions like the Goethe-Institut.
