Admission prerequisites

The fundamental prerequisite is completion of a six-semester study course with a Bachelor's degree at a German university in the relevant subject area. Recognition of other equivalent degrees is possible.

In addition, evidence of language proficiency in two modern foreign languages must be submitted, with proficiency on the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in at least one of the languages. Prospective students whose native language is not German must have sufficient knowledge of the German language (proved by DSH 2 or TestDaF 4 x 4 or equivalent evidences).

In a motivation letter, the candidates must explain their motives for taking up the course of studies and their interest in relevant research.

Topics of the subsequent interview are the candidate’s subject background, his/her previous experience and knowledge in communicating language and culture, presentation of study courses already completed and professional and personal goals in connection with taking up the relevant studies.
