	Dr. Ayobami Adetoyinbo Ayobami Adetoyinbo was a member of GlobalFood from 2017 to 2020 in which he worked in the Subproject A1: Supply Chain Governance under the supervision of Prof. Ludwig Theuvsen. His Ph.D. dissertation was on the Organizational structures, gender roles and performance of smallholders in Africa - Insights from the Nigerian shrimp and prawn sector. After leaving GlobalFood, Ayobami took up a position as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Goettingen. His research interest is on food supply organization structures, supply chain management, gender issues, productivity and technical analysis and market performance. 	Mahmoud Ahmed Mahmoud Ahmed was a member of GlobalFood from 2017 to 2020 in which he worked in the Subproject B4: Consumer Acceptance of Foods with Ethical Labels under the supervision of Prof. Yasemin Boztuğ. His Ph.D. dissertation is on the consumer Acceptance of food with ethical labels: the case of fair trade coffee consumption in Germany. Mahmoud is currently a doctoral student at the University of Goettingen. 	Dr. Camilla Andersson Camilla Andersson was a GlobalFood member from 2011-2013. She was working as a Postdoc with work related to several subprojects. She holds a PhD in Economics and Philosophy from the Umeå University in Sweden. Her main research activities within the GlobalFood program were in the fields of Development economics, small enterprise development, food distribution in developing countries, and economic policy. 	Dr. Cansin Arslan Cansın Arslan was a GlobalFood member from 2017 to 2020. She worked as a doctoral researcher in Subproject D2 under supervision of Prof. Meike Wollni. Her thesis was titled “Essays in Agricultural Technology Adoption, Value Chain Development, and Intra-Household Decision-Making.” Her primary research interests are development microeconomics, agricultural economics, and policy evaluation. Prior to joining the GlobalFood team, she was a consultant for the OECD and as a field research associate for the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). 	Dr. Edward Asiedu Edward Asiedu was a GlobalFood member from 2011-2014. He was a doctoral researcher in Subproject C2: Collective Action and Incentives for Performance under supervision of Prof. Marcela Ibanez . He defended his PhD thesis Three Essays in Empirical and Experimental Development Economics: Pro-social Behavior, Monitoring of Development-Linked Public Goods and Inequality in Sub-Saharan Africa in September 2014. His main research interests are field experiments, behavioral economics, development economics, crime and corruption, education, gender, small enterprise development, and public economics. 	Dr. Debosree Banerjee Debosree Banerjee was a GlobalFood member from 2011-2014. She was working under the supervision of Prof. Marcela Ibanez and Prof. Stephan Klasen within the Subproject D3 which is about Gender and Agricultural Commercialization. Her PhD thesis consists of Essays on women's empowerment in developing countries. She holds a M.Phil in Economics and a MA in Economics with a specialization on World Economy from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, as well as a MA in Economics from the University of Tsukuba, Japan. Her main research interests are in the fields of development economics, gender, and health economics. 	Dr. Marwan Benali Starting in 2014, Marwan Benali was a member of GlobalFood until 2017. He was working in the Subproject A3 under the Supervision of Prof. Dr. Bernhard Brümmer. He finished his PhD thesis with the title Export vegetable supply chains, household labour allocation and poverty effects among small producers – Evidence from Northern Tanzania in November 2017. His main research areas include rural development and poverty reduction, rural youth, rural labour markets and global agri-food systems. 	Dr. Iris Butzlaff Iris Butzlaff was a GlobalFood member from 2012-2016. She was working within the Subproject B3: Nutrition Transition. Under the supervision of Prof. Stephan Klasen she was working on her PhD thesis The Challenges of Transition: Essays on Nutrition and Climate Change. She holds a MA in International Economics with a focus on Development Economics from the University of Göttingen, Germany. Her main research interests lie in the fields of development economics, poverty dynamics, nutrition, and climate change. 	Dr. Christine Gacheri Kiria Chege Christine Gacheri Kiria Chege worked at GlobalFood from 2012-2015. 	Dr. Brian Chiputwa Brian Chiputwa was a GlobalFood member from 2011-2014. Under the supervision of Prof. Matin Qaim he worked in the Subproject D1 which is about Smallholder Participation and Household Welfare. Within this project he completed his PhD thesis with the topic Sustainability standards, gender and nutrition among coffee farmers in Uganda. He holds an MSc in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Georgia, USA, and an MSc in Agricultural Economics from the University of Zimbabwe. He is interested in the fields of impact evaluation, linking small farmers to markets, adoption of agricultural technologies, GMO technologies and potential in developing countries, environmental economics, and policy analysis. 	Dr. Bethelhem Legesse Debela From 2015 to 2017, Dr. Bethelhem Legesse Debela was a member of GlobalFood. Working as a Postdoctoral Researcher, her focus was on food security, child nutrition, impact assessment, gender, shocks and government interventions. She holds PhD in Economics from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway. From 2014 to 2015, she worked as a consultant at the School of Economics and Business at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). She has been a graduate assistant at Mekelle University in Ethiopia between 2006 and 2007. 	Dr. Kathrin M. Demmler Kathrin Demmler started her PhD in 2014, being a member of GlobalFood until 2017. She was working in the Subproject B3 under the Supervision of Prof. Matin Qaim and Prof. Stephan Klasen. 	Dr. Lutz Depenbusch Lutz Depenbusch was a GlobalFood member between 2014 and 2017. 	Dr. Insa Flachsbarth Insa Flachsbarth was a GlobalFood member from 2016-2019. She was working as a Postdoc with work related to Subprojects A2 (Policy and Supply Chain Participation) and A3 (Standards and Agricultural Trade Flows). She holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in Spain. 	Dr. Liza von Grafenstein Liza von Grafenstein is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Economics at the Research Group “GlobalFood” of Georg-August-University Göttingen, Germany, where she also completed her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Klasen and Prof. Vollmer in the Subproject D3: Agricultural Commercialization and Gender. She defended her PhD thesis with the title “Determinants of Child Development in India” in June 2020. For her research project she conducted a field experiment and data collection including a survey of 2,000 households in rural Bihar, India. After her time at GlobalFood, she worked on issues related to child health, nutrition, and intra-household allocation. 	Dr. Nico Herforth Nico Herforth was a GlobalFood member from 2011-2015. At GlobalFood he was working within the Subproject A1:Supply Chain Governance. Under the supervision of Prof. Ludwig Theuvsen he completed his PhD thesis with the topic Modern supply chains, social networks, and income effects among blackberry farmers in the Ecuadorian Andes. 	Dr. Denise Hörner Denise Hörner was a GlobalFood member from 2016 to 2020. She worked as a doctoral researcher in Subproject D2 under the supervision of Prof. Meike Wollni. She defended her PhD thesis with the title “The Role of Extension and Sustainable Soil Management in Smallholder Agriculture – Evidence from Ethiopia” in May 2020. Since then, Denise is further employed as a research associate by the Chair for Environmental and Resource Economics. For her PhD project, Denise designed and implemented a randomized controlled trial in close cooperation with the GIZ ‘Integrated Soil Fertility Management Project’ in Ethiopia, including a large-scale data collection. Her research interests focus on impact evaluations of development interventions and policies, with a special interest in smallholder agriculture and rural development. 	Dr. Hanna Ihli Hanna Ihli was a GlobalFood member from 2011 to 2015. She worked as a PhD student and postdoctoral researcher in the Subproject C3: High-Value Markets, Innovation Adoption, and Uncertainty. She investigated on "The Role of Risk, Ambiguity, and Time Preferences in Farmers' Decision Making to Participate in Agroforestry Payments for Environmental Services (PES) Programs in Developing Countries" under the supervision of Prof. Oliver Mußhoff. Since May 2014 she holds her Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics and Rural Development from the University of Göttingen, and affiliated with GlobalFood. Her doctoral dissertation was about Decision Making under Uncertainty in Developed and Developing Countries: An Experimental Analysis of Farmers' Risk Attitude and Investment Behavior. 	Sarah Iweala Sarah Iweala joined Global Food in 2017 as an affiliated member. She was a doctoral researcher in the subproject B1 under the Supervision of Prof. Dr. Achim Spiller. She is planning to submit her PhD thesis with the working title "Essays on ethical consumer choices" by the end of 2020. Sarah holds a Master degree in International and Development Economics from the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin. Her main research areas are consumer behavior and preferences for ethical products. 	Dr. Nelissa Jamora Nelissa Jamora was a GlobalFood member from 2011 to 2015 and worked as a PhD student and postdoctoral researcher in the Subproject A2: Policy and Supply Chain Participation under the supervision of Prof. Stephan von Cramon-Taubadel. Her research interests are in the areas of commodity market structure, price analysis, and international agriculture. 	Dr. Lisa Jäckering Lisa Jäckering was a GlobalFood member between 2015 and 2019. She was working in the associated project ADDA - Agricultural and Dietary Diversity in Africa under the supervision of Prof. Meike Wollni and Prof. Matin Qaim. After defending her PhD thesis in May 2018, she was a GlobalFood Postdoctoral Researcher. Her empirical work focuses on how farmers learn from each other and from experts about new agricultural technologies, and how to design nutrition-sensitive projects. Lisa specialized on collecting household data and implementing randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in Kenya and Côte d’Ivoire, in cooperation with World Agroforestry (ICRAF). Lisa greatly enjoys fieldwork and combines qualitative and quantitative research tools. Lisa joined IFAD’s research and impact assessment division in late 2019. 	Dr. Fatima Kareem Fatima Kareem was a GlobalFood member from 2012 to 2016 and worked as a PhD student in the Subproject A3: Standards and Agricultural Trade Flows. 	Dr. Makaiko Khonje Makaiko Gonapanyanja Khonje was a GlobalFood member from 2017 to 2020. He was a doctoral researcher in the Subproject B3: Nutrition Transition, supervised by Prof. Dr. Matin Qaim. 	Dr. Carolin Kouyaté (née Mengel) Carolin Kouyaté was a GlobalFood member from 2011 to 2014. She did her PhD in the Subproject A2 : Policy and Supply Chain Participation under the supervision of Stephan von Cramon-Taubadel. The topic of her dissertation was Determinants of price transmission. 	Dr. Katharina Krumbiegel Katharina Krumbiegel was a GlobalFood member from 2014 to 2017. She worked as a doctoral researcher in Subproject D2 under supervision of Prof. Wollni . She completed her PhD with the title Social standards, worker welfare and women's empowerment in modern agri-food systems: A case study of horticultural wage workers in Ghana in March 2017. Her main research interests are in the areas of rural development, food and nutrition security, sustainable agriculture and natural resource management. 	Dr. Dirk Landmann Dirk Landmann was a GlobalFood PhD student from 2015 to 2018 and worked in the Subproject A1: Supply Chain Governance under the supervision Prof. Ludwig Theuvsen, Prof. Carl Johan Lagerkvist and Prof. Jan-Henning Feil. In 2018, he completed his PhD in Agricultural Science at the University of Goettingen with the title Capacity development of small-scale farmers in developing countries: Analysis of preferences and the role of information and communication technologies. 	Dr. Sylvester Ogutu Sylvester Ogutu joined the GlobalFood in March 2015 as a Ph.D student under the supervision of Prof. Matin Qaim and Prof. Meike Wollni in the ADDA - Africa Dietary Diversity in Africa - project. In May 2018, he successfully defended his dissertation and graduated thereafter. His dissertation focused on Agriculture-Nutrition Linkages in the Kenyan Small Farm Sector: The Role of Commercialization, Technology adoption, and Extension. Prior to his Ph.D, Sylvester worked at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and International Potato Center (CIP) in Nairobi. His research interests are centered around, but not limited to commercialization, agricultural extension, agricultural innovations, and their welfare implications in the small farm sector.
