People First: Constructing Digital Futures Together - Participation in the European Conference on Information Systems 2024
From June 17 to 19, 2024, Prof. Dr. Maik Hammerschmidt and Katharina Berendes participated in the renowned European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) in Cyprus.
At the conference, they presented their paper titled "Achieving Efficient Resilience through Human Adjustments of Algorithm Prescriptions – A Retail Management Application" (Berendes, K., Hammerschmidt, M., Arabmaldar, A., Loske, D., & Klumpp, M. (2024)).
This research project highlights an exciting research gap at the intersection of information systems and resilience in supply chains. It examines the crucial role of human-AI collaboration in mitigating the resilience-efficiency dilemma in retail. Specifically, the study explores how digital technologies, particularly AI-based algorithm prescriptions, can be optimized through human adjustments to enhance operational resilience without sacrificing efficiency.
In addition to exciting presentations, the conference offered various opportunities for professional exchange. There were also numerous workshops and discussion panels that provided valuable insights, as well as social events (see photo, at the harbor of Paphos in Cyprus), which provided an ideal platform for networking and personal conversations.
