Teaching
General Teaching Objectives
The Chair’s objective is to give students a high-quality education based on three main principles: theory, business relevance, and empirical evidence. Our teaching allows students to acquire general knowledge in a variety of topics, to develop skills to apply theoretical frameworks to practice, and to draw practical implications from scientific work. The Chair implements empirical evidence-based approaches that enable students to further examine topics in areas of HRM and Asian business based on empirical studies and research methods. Furthermore, our teaching covers current topics and case studies, and also provides opportunities for the students to engage in cooperative projects with companies. For those students who are interested in research careers, opportunities for participation in ongoing research projects will be provided.

Philosophy of supervision and information on scientific work
When supervising seminar papers and dissertations, we attach great importance to creating a balance between support and autonomy in line with the supervision philosophy in the focus of corporate management. This means that you can actively and independently design your work, but there will also be a contact person if your work requires more intensive support. As the chair for human resources management we prepare you for scientific working with the following three modules:
Kick-off meetings of Bachelor and Master seminars
In the kick-off event for the Bachelor's and Master's seminars, we not only provide an overview of the content, but also concrete information on scientific work. After attending this event, you will know the procedure of creating scientific work and it's structure. You will be familiar with research, development and citation of literature sources. Furthermore you will be given suggestions on how to meet the requirements of a scientific paper.
On the homepage of the chair you will find a guideline under "Teaching", which, in addition to formal requirements, also provides further information on the preparation of scientific papers.
Individual sessions with your supervisor ensure, that we support you with specific questions regarding your seminar paper or thesis. This concerns in particular the discussion of the project in the form of a kick-off meeting to discuss the structure of your work, but also other concrete questions that arise during process of your work. In order to provide you with optimal support, we expect you to make an appointment in advance and a careful preparation for the meeting date. Please send us the documents required for the appointment the day before at the latest.
Due to our diverse teaching content and research interests, the chair offers a comprehensive and diverse range of topics for your seminar papers and dissertations. The focus is on the profound processing of practical relevant questions. The topics offered include expatriate management, global leadership, diversity management, entrepreneurship, talent management and courses on research methodology.
