Career options with a degree from the Faculty of Business and Economics





  • Graduates in Business



    Business graduates can be employed in all areas and departments of companies and organisations. The exact area depends, of course, on one's own personal interests and study focus.


    From purchasing to marketing and human resources to IT and controlling. They keep an eye on company figures, lead teams or work in consulting.

  • Graduates in Economics



    Our study programmes in the field of economics have a very international orientation. Our graduates therefore work in national and international companies, but also in international organisations such as the European Union.


    There are also opportunities in research institutes, ministries, in the field of political consulting or in organisations with a focus on development aid or cooperation with developing countries.


    Other possible employers include banks, insurance companies, public authorities and associations as well as consulting firms.

  • Graduates in Business Information Systems



    The jobs of graduates in business information systems include activities carried out by computer specialists and systems analysts.


    They usually work at the interface of business administration departments and the IT department in companies and organisations and are experts who have excellent knowledge of the business problem and are able to develop IT solutions for it.


    Other tasks include planning, documenting and introducing hardware and software and assessing the effects on the respective type of organisation.

  • Graduates in Business and Human Resource Education



    Our programme in business and human resource education primarily prepares students for later employment as teachers at commercial vocational schools. After graduating with a bachelor's degree, you will have to complete a master's degree in order to enter the preparatory service for the teaching profession at commercial vocational schools (Referendariat).


    Graduates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in business and human resource education are, however, also qualified for jobs in human resources management in companies or in vocational education and training.

  • Graduates of the Master's programme in Applied Statistics



    Statisticians are needed in any industry where decision-making is based on complex data analysis. Possible career fields are for example:



    • In medicine, statisticians are often employed in the pharmaceutical sector for planning and implementation of clinical studies, as well as for R&D. Statisticians are also in high demand in the area of public health and general health care management.

    • In the banking and insurance industries, statisticians are employed to evaluate portfolios, conduct risk analysis, evaluate various financial products, and calculate premiums.

    • Marketing and consumer opinion organizations need statisticians to design and execute surveys, as well as to analyze large, complex data sets on consumer behavior (for example, supermarket scanner data, or the purchasing behavior of consumers).

    • Statisticians are employed in general research departments across the public and private sectors, to design experiments, carry out research projects, and analyze the resulting data.

    • Statisticians are even found in the IT sector, working in areas such as search engine optimization, or for planning and managing resources.

  • Graduates of the Master’s programme in History of Global Markets



    The professional opportunities for our graduates are wide-ranging. These include activities in publishing houses, archives and museums of companies as well as private or public institutions.


    Furthermore, it is possible to enter the professional fields of foundation management, business journalism, university management, public relations, management consultancy or marketing.


    In addition to the subject-specific qualification, the degree programme imparts important general competences such as:



    • Ability to work rationally and in an organised manner

    • Acquisition of written and oral communication skills

    • Use of problem-solving skills as well as subject- and practice-relevant learning techniques


    The practical relevance of the master’s programme is established through internships and project work, which are offered in cooperation with companies, museums, foundations and scientific research institutions and thus directly prepare students for their future careers.
