The International Max Planck Research School for Genome Science (IMPRS-GS) is a PhD programme located at Göttingen Research Campus. IMRPS-GS PhD students are trained in experimental and computational genome sciences. We, the faculty of IMPRS-GS, conduct research in functional genomics, quantitative proteomics, bioimaging, computational biology, and bioinformatics. The growing high-throughput and quantitative measurement technologies in these research areas lead to increasing cross-disciplinarity between experiment, computation, and analysis. We therefore consider it crucial for the coming generation of researchers in genome sciences, whether experimental or theoretical, to become specialist in one discipline and to understand the language of the other. It is our goal to train this new generation of scientists.

The IMPRS-GS is part of the Göttingen Graduate School for Neurosciences, Biophysics, and Molecular Biosciences (GGNB). It is conducted jointly by the University of Göttingen and the University Medical Center Göttingen, the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences, the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization and the German Primate Center.
