South Korea
South Korea (Republic of Korea) is an East Asian country on the southern half of the Korean peninsula. It is known for its green, hilly landscape with cherry trees, Buddhist temples, coastal fishing villages, subtropical islands and ultra-modern cities like the capital, Seoul. The country impresses with high-tech and an unfaltering modernity: South Korea is an economic boom country where you can experience a futuristic urban life firsthand. Culturally, the country offers Asian traditions and a special culinary culture in addition to the globally successful K-pop and extravagant fashion. The University of Göttingen has partnerships with Korea University, Seoul National University and EWHA Womans University in Seoul as well as the University of Incheon in Songdo.
Exchange opportunities to South Korea
EWHA Womans University, SeoulEwha Womans University is a private women's university in Seoul founded in 1886 by Mary F. Scranton under Emperor Gojong. It is the first university founded in South Korea. Currently, Ewha is the world's largest female educational institute as well as one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea. Male students are admitted only as exchange students and at the university's own Ewha Language Center. Male students are not admitted to bachelor's, master's, or doctoral programs. EWHA has overcome many challenges in its history to become a recognized global center for women's education, including its excellent worldwide exchange programme, and to create new academic pathways for women in the world. The historic campus, for example, has become a work of art in the middle of the capital Seoul through the construction of the architecturally very special library over the last decades.
