International students
International students usually have limited access to financial support benefits. Please note that students from within the European Union have different access to financial benefits than students coming from outside the European Union. - The other parents access to financial support benefits:
Check if the other parent has access to social or family benefits, if you are not entitled to claim financial support. The second parent might be able to apply for said benefits. - Extension of duration of stay:
You cannot extend your duration of stay by applying for a holiday semester. - Citizenship:
Children of international students, that are born in Germany, generally acquire their parents citizenship. Exception: at least one parent has had a legitimate residence permit status in Germany for at least 8 years and has an unlimited right of residence.
