Intercultural Learning
Intercultural learning has become increasingly important over the past decades with its potential to generate added meaning and benefit in various contexts, where people from diverse cultural backgrounds meet and interact.
Regarding cultural differences as something positive can foster curiosity and motivation to learn more about the world and oneself, presumingly leading to personal development, and to enhancing employability and Global Engagement.
At the Intercultural Learning Lab we regard intercultural learning as a lifelong process through which individuals develop skills, knowledge, and attitudes that enable them to understand, appreciate and interact effectively and appropriately with people from different cultures.
Research shows that intercultural learning is most effective when accompanied through guided reflection, which is why students in our courses work with reflective portfolios to broaden their intercultural competence. This process also includes staying open minded and reflecting one´s own culture and perspective.
