Göttingen Graduate Schools

Doctoral training at the University of Göttingen is concentrated in four graduate schools. Their aim is to optimise the research and learning conditions for doctoral students and to promote the development of a new generation of excellent scientists by offering intensive supervision and seminars. The Graduate Schools form the umbrella for the doctoral programmes and Research Training Groups of the faculties assigned to them.

Excellent: Göttingen Graduate Center GGNB
Part of the scientific GAUSS is the Göttingen Graduate Center for Neurosciences, Biophysics, and Molecular Biosciences (GGNB). This renowned center is jointly funded by the University, three Max Planck Institutes and the German Primate Center (DPZ). It comprises twelve doctoral programmes. In 2012, the GGNB was successful in the second round of the federal and state excellence competition.

International Max Planck Research Schools in Göttingen
The International Max Planck Research Schools (IMPRS) are a successful example of cooperation between the University and Max Planck Institutes on site. These doctoral programmes give talented young scientists the opportunity to do their doctorate in an international doctoral network under excellent research conditions.
