Chile
The longest country on earth, Chile stretches between the South American Andes and the Pacific Ocean with impressive natural diversity. In the north, for instance, lies the very dry Atacama desert, while the south of the country is covered by lakes and glaciers. Chile has several active volcanoes that are popular tourist destinations, and is also known as one of the largest wine producers in the world. The central section of the country, around the capital Santiago, is home to about half of Chile’s population. The University of Göttingen has a partnership with the Universidad Austral de Chile, located in Valdivia.
