Public Outreach
The scientists of CRC 1456 regularly contribute to the existing outreach activities of the University of Göttingen.
Night of Science
The 5th Night of Science on July 9, 2022 in Göttingen was a great success with up to 25000 visitors! Several scientists from CRC presented their research to the public.- Looking into things: Inverse Problems in Computed Tomography (Prof. Dr. Anne Wald, Philipp Mickan, Dr. Subhankar Mondel, Meng Liu, Gesa Sarnighausen, Meng Liu, Prof. Dr. Thorsten Hohage)
- The auction algorithm (Olga Minevich, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Schmitzer)
- 3D Tissue Analysis of Brain, Lungs, and More (Prof. Dr. Bernhard Schmitzer)
- Modeling and Simulation with Differential Equations (Fabian Heimann, Prof. Dr. Christoph Lehrenfeld)
- By the Hair - Mechanical Properties of Hair (Team of the Cellular Biophysics Group, Prof. Dr. Sarah Köster)
- Simulating the Sun: From the surface to the hot corona (Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research)
- How do you observe the sun? From Sunrise to Solar Orbiter (Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research)
Saturday Morning Science
The primary goal of the Saturday Morning Science is public lecture series is to reach a broader audience, especially to address high school students and other interested individuals.- November 11, 2023: Prof. Dr. Axel Munk (project A04) from the Institute of Mathematical Stochastics entered the fascinating world of data and explained how data is analyzed in order to obtain the information we are looking for. (press release)
- May 21, 2022: Experimental physicist Prof. Dr. Tim Salditt (project C03) provided insights into new possibilities for biomedical imaging using modern X-ray optics.
Chalk Talks
Scientists from the University of Göttingen give exclusive insights into their research during the Chalk Talks, where they use only chalk and a blackboard to present their work.- May 26, 2023: Sarah Köster (project A04) - Warum biologische Zellen Sicherheitsgurte und Stoßdämpfer brauchen
Ring Lecture WS23/24
"Heart and Brain Together in Focus" is the title of the public lecture series of the University of Göttingen and the Academy of Sciences of Lower Saxony in Göttingen in the winter semester 2023/2024. In the series, scientists from the Göttingen Cluster of Excellence "Multiscale Bioimaging: from molecular machines to networks of excitable cells" (MBExC) will provide comprehensive insights into the cluster's unique research approach using their research results as examples.- January 9, 2024: Prof. Dr. Tim Salditt: Herz und Hirn im Röntgenblick: dreidimensionale Darstellung der Zytoarchitektur
- November 14, 2023: Prof. Dr. Claudia Steinem - Herz und Hirn: Welche Rolle spielt Calcium?
