SALLnet – South African Limpopo Landscapes Network
SALLnet is an interdisciplinary research project asking, how the resilience of the multi-functional landscapes in southern Africa can be enhanced under the conditions of climate change.
South African Limpopo Landscape Network; Subproject (TP) 1: Coordination, agricultural land use scenarios : sub-project-specific final report (Deutsch) Sustainability of Southern African Ecosystems under Global Change (English) In their new research article, Mina Anders and colleagues compared the effects of agronomic practices, orchard design and landscape factors on macadamia nut production in South Africa. The Sallnet Final Meeting was held in Tzaneen (Limpopo, South Africa) on 21-22 June 2022. Read more to find out what has been reported and discussed during this meeting. SALLnet scientists have developed a policy brief illustrating management practices to reduce feed gaps in smallholder farming systems under drought conditions. According to a policy brief developed by SALLnet scientists, retaining natural habitats significantly benefits natural pest control in macadamia orchards. From 14 to 16 June 2022, the final meeting of SPACES II took place on the Future Africa Campus of the University of Pretoria, South Africa. What are the interacting effects of pollination and biological pest control on macadamia nut set? Mina Anders has presented the results of her research at the 5th SALLnet Seminar on 13 January. From the 6th to the 10th of December 2021, the SALLnet hosted a workshop entitled “Socio-ecological modeling for multi-functional landscapes“ SALLnet has presented its overall approach in Land Degradation & Development. This paper also serves as a reference paper of the project.
