Communication and visualization of the research process
PI: Dr. Sandra Posch
The effects of climate
change on forest ecosystems are difficult for humans to perceive through the
senses alone. A key part of the project Digital Forest was science
communication: We aimed to bridge the gap between research data and human
sensory experience, using both physical elements and virtual reality methods.
In this way, we aimed to convey scientific methods and findings intuitively,
and also contribute scientific values to political assessments and debates on
climate change.
The Forum Wissen, in close cooperation with the project scientists, has designed the exhibition 'Digital Forest – A virtual journey into climate research'. The exhibition was shown at the Forum Wissen and at the visitor center of the Hainich National Park (Link to Exhibition).
