SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

Due to my background in psychology, I have had most contact with cognitive neuroscience so far. My main interests in this field lie in decision making and social cognition. As the evolution of the human brain likely went hand in hand with more social behaviour, I believe that social neuroscience in particular is a field with a lot of potential for discoveries. However, I am still very much open to all areas of neuroscience. As what makes neuroscience so fascinating to me is the fact that small molecular changes can lead to easily observable behavioural changes. I would love to be able to research on both ends of that spectrum. A method that I consider especially relevant to this goal is optogenetics.
