SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

The complex functioning of the nervous system as well as the fact that molecular mechanisms determine the being of a human fascinate me very much. These diseases can affect the body in all ways as well as lead to mind altering processes, which makes one aware of the role of the neural system as a central control entity. Therefore, I find it very interesting to study the processes and causes of neurodegenerative diseases in more detail, so appropriate therapies can be developed for them afterwards. I am also interested in computational neuroscience. Here, I find the linking of the functioning of the neuronal system with mathematical modeling very exciting. This also proves the unique and versatile functioning of the neuronal system, which is why I am excited to study neuroscience.
