Dr. Luitgard Schwendenmann

Research Interests

  • Application of stable isotopes to the study of ecological processes at plant and ecosystem scales

  • Carbon cycling in tropical forest ecosystems

  • Effects of succession and forest use on water and nutrient cycle

  • Biodiversity and ecosystem function

In the past Dr. Schwendenmann conducted research on below-ground carbon dynamics in a Costa Rican rain forest. Further, she investigated the hydrochemistry of a Brazilian mangrove ecosystem. Past research also included a study on the effects of clear-cutting and fire on soil properties and forest nutrition in a boreal ecosystem.
