Weighted aptitude assessment procedure: two calculation examples

Calculation example 1: possible maximum score in the Abitur 900

The applicant has reached the average Abitur grade 1.0 with 833 (out of a total of 900 points).

Calculation of the university entrance qualification (HZB) score (HZB = Abitur)
833 : 60 = 13. 883333(no rounding up, the last decimal places are ignored)

Calculation of individual scores for core subjects:
the arithmetic mean of the last 4 school semesters

Subject A: 14 + 14 +13 + 13= 54 :4 = 13,50 points
Subject B: 14 + 15 + 13 +14= 56 :4 =14,00 points
Subject C: 10 + 11 + 12 + 12= 45 :4 =11,25 points

Calculation of the total score relevant for selection:

Weighting per item
University entrance qualification:13,88 x 8,00 = 111,04 80%
Subject A:13,50 x 1,00= 13,5010%
Subject B:14,00 x 0,50= 7,00 5%
Subject C:11,25 x 0,50= 5,625%
Total:= 137,16
Result: 137,16 : 10= 13,71 points

If a different weighting system is applied to individual subjects (e.g. 60:20:10:10), the total score is calculated according to the same method.

This score determines the ranking of each applicant in the order of qualification.

Calculation example 2: possible maximum score in the Abitur 840 points

he applicant has reached the average Abitur grade 1.0 with 768 points (out of a total of 840 points)

Calculation of the university entrance qualification (HZB) score (HZB = Abitur)
768 : 56 = 13.714285 (no rounding up, last decimal places are ignored)

Calculation of individual scores for core subjects:
the arithmetic mean of the last 4 school semesters

Subject A:14 + 13 + 13 + 14 = 54 :4 = 13,50 points
Subject B:13 + 12 + 12 + 11 = 48 :4 = 12,00 points
Subject C:11 + 10 + 10 + 13 = 44: 4 = 11,00 points

Calculation of the total score relevant for selection:

Weighting per item
University entrance qualification:13,71 x 8,00 = 109,68 80%
Subject A:13,50 x 1,00= 13,5010%
Subject B:12,00 x 0,50 = 6,00 5%
Subject C: 11,00 x 0,50 = 5,505%
Total= 134,68
Result:134,68 : 10 =13,46 points

If a different weighting system is applied to individual subjects (e.g. 60:20:10:10), the total score is calculated according to the same method.

This score determines the ranking of each applicant in the order of qualification.
