Research Areas

Development of modern methods of electron spin resonance – particularly at high microwave frequencies – to study the structure of biomolecular systems. Measuring of hyperfine and dipolar coupling for the determination of intra- and intermolecular distances from the atomic to the nanometer scale. Application in studies of active paramagnetic centres in enzymatic catalysis.

  • Pulsed EPR, double resonance and 2-dimensional spectroscopy
  • Dynamic nuclear spin polarisation, optical stimulation
  • Structure and function of paramagnetic enzymes (Ribonucleotide Reductase, Heterodisulfid Reductase, PpoA)
  • Development of hardware and resonators for enhancing the responsiveness of magnetic resonance
