Organization
The Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience (BCCN) Göttingen is an interdisciplinary scientific institution of the University of Göttingen with contribution of the faculties of biology, medicine, physics, and informatics. Partner institutions are the University Medical Center Göttingen, the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization, the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry (incl. Biomed NMR GmbH), the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine, the German Primate Center, and Otto Bock HealthCare GmbH.
Bodies of the BCCN Göttingen are the Board of Directors, the Executive Director, the Members’ Assembly, and the Scientific Advisory Board. The Board of Directors is responsible for executing decisions of the Members’ Assembly, (in agreement with the steering committee of the University of Göttingen) the substantial and strategic orientation of the Center, and for supporting and educating young researchers. The Executive Director represents the Center and its interests. The BCCN Göttingen is administrated through a branch office.
Executive Director of the BCCN Göttingen is Prof. Fred Wolf, Professor at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization and Honorary Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Göttingen who succeeded Prof Geisel, director at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization and Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Göttingen in March 2013. In 2018, Fred Wolf was nominated as founding director of a new interdisciplinary Institute for the Dynamics of Biological Networks at the Göttingen Campus.
