Introductory information on the library
The library in its current form emerged from the Library of the Associated Theological Seminars with its classical theological disciplines and from the collections of books of those independent departments which, after the 1st Lower Saxony University Act came into force, joined and became the Institute for Special Research.
The library of the Associated Theological Seminars with its ca 190 000 volumes and round 250 periodicals is a reference library and places sufficient reading space at students’ disposal (reservation possibilities for examination candidates and students of Ev. religion, who are currently are currently writing their bachelor or master thesis). Students also have the possibility to keep books over the weekend and to borrow books from the “Students’ library” collection for six weeks.
Opening hours:
Mo-Fr: 8.00 a.m. – 7.45 p.m.
Saturday: 8.00 a.m. – 12.45
Necessary restrictions imposed on the opening hours will be announced in due time. Students get user-cards free of charge from the library supervisors at the entrance; the library is also open to other interested persons after they present their identity card. Copying machines and scanner are available in the library.
