Across the university several comprehensive and discipline specific initiatives are transforming international collaboration and education. In cooperation with partner institutions within and outside Europe, as well as organizations such as the DAAD, the University of Göttingen is forging new modes of learning and expanding international opportunities for our students, staff and faculties.

  • ENLIGHT is a European University formed by nine comprehensive, research-intensive universities from nine European countries sharing a deep commitment to their social responsibility. ENLIGHT aims to undertake a fundamental transformation of European higher education that empowers learners as globally engaged citizens with state-of-the-art knowledge, skills, and innovation potential to tackle major societal transitions and to promote equitable quality of life and sustainability.

  • Within the special call for proposals 'IVAC - International Virtual Academic Collaboration' the DAAD funded the University of Göttingen from September 2020 to October 2021. Since September 2021 two new projects of the University of Göttingen have been receiving DAAD funding within the IVAC programme.

  • The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) intends to support the universities in the process of digitization and international cooperation with the programme 'International Mobility and Cooperation through Digitalisation' (IMKD). The project `liveSciences³ - Transnational and Digital Linked Life Sciences´ is one of six projects nationwide that were selected from a total of more than 70 applications and will receive DAAD IMKD funding totalling around 2.2 million euros for a period of three years starting in April 2020.

  • The project „BEST Exchange“ (Brazilian, Belgian, Estonian, Swedish Teacher Exchange) will increase the mobility of students and teaching staff in the field of teacher education and foster the the international connections of the center of teacher education. Partners are the universities of Gent, Tartu, Uppsala and the Instituto Ivoti.

  • PIM offers higher education institutions (HEI) and students a platform for inter*national student mobility. Funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research, the platform is being developed as a cooperation between several higher education institutions.

  • The goal in internationalising the curricula is to offer students opportunities during their studies to gain international experiences, encounter other perspectives and develop their intercultural skills, regardless of whether they can spend time abroad. The university offers faculty members advice, support and networking opportunities in the (further) development of their teaching programmes.

  • ROCKET is an international project that receives co-funding by the Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships program from January 2024 until June 2026 and puts an emphasis on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. In collaboration, the universities of Goettingen, Groningen and Uppsala seek to develop a sustainable concept for Critical Virtual Exchange which implements Role-Playing Games and Conflict Transformation.
