Dr. Ida G. Monfared
Research Associate & Postdoc
Chair of Development Economics/CeMIS
Prof. Dr. Sebastian Vollmer
Ida joined Development Economics / CeMIS in May 2018 as a post-doctoral research fellow. Her research is focused on health inequalities, the potential causes behind it, and its social and economic consequences.
Prior to this (2017-2018) she worked as a data analyst at the NHS Improvement, part of the UK Department of Health, helping NHS trusts and other publically funded healthcare providers to improve their productivity and efficiency. She was a member of the Model Hospital team, an online platform that following Carter Report was developed to allow hospitals comparing their performance from various angles (more than 5000 metrics), in particular, their financial performance and productivity against their peers to identify areas for improvement.
Between 2013 and 2017, she was a project manager at the Picker Institute Europe, a not-for-profit organization in Oxford that supports NHS trusts and other healthcare providers (e.g. hospices and mental healthcare providers) aiming to improve patient experience and quality of care.
In 2012, she graduated with a PhD from the School of Architecture, University of Sheffield, UK where she studies sustainability, people’s perception and attitude towards green architecture and its effect on performance of buildings that are designed to be sustainable. During this time, she also carried out extensive research in cognitive elements of questionnaire design focusing on methods that can minimize response error and data noise.
She has a BSc in Physics from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran.
