Details
In the Master's programme in Management you can choose between a highly specialised or a generalist education - and you can even switch between these orientations during the course of your studies, so that you don't have to decide right at the beginning.
There are six different specialisations to choose from (see “Structure”). If you do not choose a specific focus, but instead wish to pursue a generalist education, you can choose the "General Management" focus.
In addition to the subject-specific courses of the respective specialisation, you will also take corresponding courses from the area of "Research Methods", because a valid impact analysis of management decisions is only possible using robust methods. Methods (e.g. also statistics) also remain constant in the long term and can always be applied to new challenges (e.g. business analytics or measuring sustainability). Conceptual considerations, i.e. theories and models, are important to understand patterns behind developments.
Of course, you will also apply the knowledge you have acquired in your studies. This is done in the practical project (see “Structure”): Teamwork is almost indispensable in today's professional life. The practical project helps students to become more aware of their own role and strengths in a team.
A practical focus is also established in the programme through compulsory basic modules in the 1st and 2nd semesters (see “Structure”) as well as, for example, through
- Lectures by practitioners in lectures; especially by alumni
- Joint seminars and research projects with companies
- Practice-relevant final theses in cooperation with companies
- Credits can be awarded for an internship during your studies
- In addition, an annual job and career fair with numerous companies takes place on the university campus
In cooperation with the Business School of Nanjing University (NJUBS) in China, the Faculty of Business and Economics also offers a double degree programme. Within the framework of this programme, you can obtain a Master's degree from Göttingen University and a Master's degree from Nanjing University.
Good German language skills (if your native language is not German) are required.
If you would like to apply for the double degree programme with Nanjing University in China, you must also demonstrate a very good command of English.
