Agricultural extension services in Jambi, Indonesia: an investigation of access, impact and potential
The goal of this Master's thesis is to gain a better understanding of the role that extension services play among palm oil farmers in Jambi Province, Indonesia. More specifically, we would like to understand what the characteristics are of farmers who are receiving extension services compared with those who do not. Moreover, the current status of pro-environmental practices and information dissemination (such as on native tree planting) via the channel of extension service agents will be examined with a focus on the potential for a future role of extension services in promoting such practices. The research project will be based on the baseline survey data from Scientific Project C08 and will be supplemented with qualitative data from semi-structured interviews conducted this summer (2019) with extension service agents in Jambi.
