20 August 2024:
All applicants have been informed about the outcome of their application. The recruitment process is closed.The next call for applications for the third cohort will be around late 2026 or early 2027. This is the final update regarding the hiring process of the second RTG 2654 cohort.
18 July 2024:
The interview phase has been completed. For all positions, candidates have been selected. The rejection messages to the other applicants have not yet been sent. This step will be completed by early to mid August. We are sorry for any inconveniences caused by this.

The interview phase is still ongoing. Rejection emails will only be sent when all positions are filled. See update from 22 May for more details.
22 May 2024:
The interview phase is ongoing. No rejection emails have been sent out. Applicants still have chances to be invited for an interview. Given the high workload related to this process, we cannot reply to individual requests in the meantime. We would, thus, kindly like to ask applicants to please refrain from follow up inquiries on the status of their applications.
24 April 2024:
The first round of screening of applications has ended by 16 April. The interview phase with short-listed candidates is expected to take place from 25 April to around 15 May. Some candidates might receive invitations for later than 15 May. Applicants will be notified by email by the respective PI regarding the interviews. Interviews will take place online. A second round of screening might follow afterwards in some subprojects. Thus, the recruitment process is not over yet. Applicants still might have chances to be called for an interview later on. Thus, rejection emails have not yet been sent out.
25 March 2024:
The application portal has been closed. The application deadline has ended. We do not accept further applications for the 15 PhD positions. The screening of applications is ongoing. Given the very high number of applications, the screening will require a substantial waiting time. We would, thus, kindly like to ask applicants to please refrain from follow up inquiries.
