Excursion to EFForTS Biodiversity Enrichment Experiment (EFForTS-BEE) with community arena members.
In October 2022, 20 Community Arena members embarked on a visit to the EFForTS Biodiversity Enrichment Experiment located in Bungku village. This excursion facilitated the exchange of knowledge concerning diversification options within oil palm plantations and the identification of preferences for intercropping methods.
Dr. Bambang Irawan, the dean of Jambi University's forestry department, explained on the ecological benefits, economic potential, and challenges associated with enriching oil palm plantations with other tree species.
During this visit, we also met farmers who experimented with intercropping oil palms alongside other trees.
Participatory research methods for sustainable transformation Workshop (UNJA)
In October 2022, a workshop was held for forestry students at Jambi University (UNJA). Students learned about research methods using the case of the Sustainable Village Project.

Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) Training (IPB Bogor)
In August 2022, a Training on Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) methods was conducted at the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, IPB University, Bogor, West Java.
Researchers and field assistants learned participatory workshop moderation and project planning techniques.

In June 2023, Community Arena Members in Pematang Kabau attended a training on project proposal writing to raise public funds for implementing sustainability innovations in the village.

Special exhibition at Forum Wissen in Göttingen in collaboration with documenta 15: Saujana membumi – exploring sustainability (June - September 2022)
This special exhibition connected scientific and artistic perspectives regarding sustainable land use concerns.
Scientific discoveries and items from the Collaborative Research Centre EFForTS "Ecological and Socioeconomic Functions of Tropical Lowland Rainforest Transformation Systems" in Jambi were combined with…
…artworks that were crafted in Pematang Kabau and exhibited at the Semah Bumi Festival.
The exhibition also featured video documentation of project workshops and interviews with Community Arena members, providing insights into their perspectives on sustainability.
