Dr. Birgit Zumbach

Birgit Zumbach has a background in Animal Breeding and Genetics. She joined this Division on January 1, 2023, having previously worked as a coordinator for the CiBreed Centre. She has extensive experience analyzing large genetic data sets from various domestic animal species including guinea pigs, chickens, cattle, goats and pigs. Recent research topics include imputation of SNP data, genomic prediction, and genetic analyses to reduce tail biting in pigs. Besides, she implemented a breeding program for organic chicken. She engages in iPAB program lectures and analyzes data sets from ongoing projects.
