SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS
The human central nervous system is one of the most complex organs in nature. But like all living systems it has evolved over the time. In the last 50 years evidence cumulated that even complex social behavior is driven by evolution. I am interested in relating modern evolutionary synthesis to the cellular and molecular basis of mind, conscious behavior, and the development of the human brain with the help of molecular genetics. Especially, I want to learn about psychosomatic phenomena and the interaction of mind and body. Furthermore, I take an interest in the causes of the need for sleep.
