SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

Due to my background in biochemistry, I am interested in understanding the intrinsic mechanisms of our behavior, development, and neurodegenerative diseases on a molecular level. During my BSc Biochemistry Program I was always fascinated by the modern super resolution microscopy techniques. Additionally, my Bachelor project on Drosophila active zone proteins and presynaptic plasticity led to a specific interest in molecular neurosciences regarding the active zone. Therefore, I am excited to combine these two interests to identify the function and relations of individual neuronal players. On the other hand, I look forward to the interdisciplinary approach on the subject and want to delve deeper into the different research areas that reach from the single neuron to the whole brain.
