My research focuses on the understanding of nitrous oxide fluxes, participating in the project INFLUX - Improved process understanding and quantification of Nitrous oxide FLUXes in a German crop rotation. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the temporal and spatial variability of N2O fluxes. Therefore, we are comparing N2O estimates from eddy covariance and chamber measurements in a study at the experimental farm Reinshof. Further, we want to improve the understanding of the drivers for N2O emissions from agricultural soils by continuously analyzing various soil parameters at the study site. Through stable isotope studies and metagenomic analysis, the understanding of the mechanisms responsible for N2O production in an agricultural soil will be improved.Education
