Curriculum Vitae
Laura Kmoch is part of the Chair of Social-Ecological Interactions sind June 2021. Sie studies agroforestry systems und migrations and transformation processes in rural areas of Morocco, and thus contributes to the projects go-PRIMA and Landscape Chains.
Through her studies at Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Bangor University Wales, she gained degrees in International Forest Ecosystem Management (B. Sc.), Sustainable Tropical Forestry and Forests and Livelihoods (Erasmus Mundus M. Sc.). Moreover, she gathered international research experience through work stays at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia, as Research Fellow of the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) in Morocco, and with GEO schützt den Regenwald e.V. in Nepal.
She conducted her PhD in Energy and Environment at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, on rural sources of income, smallholder land rights and vulnerabilities in connection with extreme weather events, in the highlands of Myanmar.
Research Foci
Her methodological strengths include the use of digital questionnaires to collect empirical field data, as well as mixed methods and participatory approaches to collect local ecological knowledge and to analyze complex change dynamics in social-ecological systems.
