Emilio Dogliani (Italy)

Emilio comes from a very little village in Piedmont (North-West of Italy) and from a young age he became passionate about foreign languages. After studying at a local language high school, he moved to Groningen (the Netherlands), where he completed his Bachelor's in European Languages and Cultures. He specialized in German and European Politics and Society, with a minor in Russian language. During his undergraduate studies, he spent a semester at the Eberhard-Karls University in Tübingen, during which he fell in love (even more) with the German culture and language. His passion for culture, politics and society of the EU pushed him to apply to and become a member of the 2018-2020 Euroculture cohort, during which he attended courses in Göttingen and Strasbourg. He spent his third semester in Brussels, working as an intern at the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union (COMECE), focusing on EU External Relations and Foreign Policy. After graduating from Euroculture with a thesis on the role of civil society in the Eastern Partnership, he became Policy Advisor at COMECE, where he currently works, focusing on Culture and Education at EU level.

My Euroculture experience was without doubts one of the most enriching in my life. Not only it allowed me to make full use of the mobility that the Programme requires, but it also enabled me to understand the complex intertwining between culture, politics and society in Europe through its interdisciplinary approach. Although I had already been abroad in Germany and the Netherlands before starting the Master's, the Programme also gave me the chance to further experience different cities, meet and exchange ideas with fellow students - many of whom became very good friends - and acquiring competences that are useful for my work today. The professional track was pivotal for my future, since I was able to intern in Brussels and discover how life and politics work on a daily basis in the Belgian capital at the heart of Europe. In sum, Euroculture allowed me to learn and find out a bit more about my vocation in life and what to do to pursue it, through encounters, dialogue and unique experiences.
