Postdoctoral Researcher

Research:
My current research focuses on two interrelated and vital topics. In the first area, I utilize remote sensing techniques to estimate actual evapotranspiration, a crucial parameter in water resources management. The second area of my expertise is drought hazard monitoring and forecasting across both irrigated and rainfed croplands. Drought, a global problem with widespread impacts on water supply, agriculture, and ecosystems, has been increasing in frequency across all continents. To address this challenge, I am actively involved in the OUTLAST project (https://outlast-project.net/), aiming to develop the first worldwide, multi-sectoral, and operational drought forecasting system. Through this ambitious initiative, we seek to quantify drought hazards in water supply, riverine and non-agricultural land ecosystems, as well as rainfed and irrigated agriculture. Our research empowers decision-makers and policymakers with critical information to implement adaptive strategies in response to changing climate patterns and growing drought risks.
