Lignin2Wood
Biophenols from Lignin to Wood
The project Lignin2Wood seeks to develop a new modification technology to improve the biological durability and weathering resistance of wood materials. The developed treatment agent will be based on phenol-formaldehyde resin of the resol type, whereby petroleum-based phenol is partly substituted by monophenolic components of lignin, which are obtained through controlled pyrolysis processes. The long-term goal of the project is to develop a better understanding of various process parameters in order to improve the quality/purity of the lignin-based pyrolysis oil and to understand the relationship between chemical bio-oil compositions in combination with the development of resins for wood modification from renewable raw materials.
