Having been founded in 1930 due to a unification of several historical seminars, the Warsaw University Institute of History is situated directly at main boardwalk Krakowskie Przedmiesce. It is among the most decorated history departments of Poland and dedicated to a broad temporal and spatial range of research. Over 100 historians discuss issues ranging from ancient times up to contemporary history focusing on Polish-Russian-Lithuanian transfers, but including several non-European perspectives as well. The institute is engaged in active interchanges via the Erasmus and Histarmed (Spain, France, and Italy) programmes. It maintains longstanding partnerships with the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in paris, the Mohyla academy in Kiev, Moscow’s Lomonossov University and various other universities in West and East. The Göttingen university Erasmus partnership dates back about a decade – you may read about students’ experiences here. In 2018 there were 778 exchange students taking part in Erasmus programmes, 93 of which came from Germany. The Erasmus courses are, of course, held in English. You may find further information on Warsaw University’s website.
