Background information:

"No man is an island." Organizational actors - be they employees, departments, or entire organizations - are also embedded in a web of social relationships. Social network theory is concerned with analyzing this web of social relationships and its positive (as well as negative) effects, for example, on knowledge acquisition, innovation generation, internationalization, and the success of network actors.

The seminar is aimed at master's students with an interest in research-oriented teaching: In small groups, you will work on a scientific question from the field of social network theory (e.g., the influence of trust on knowledge transfer between partner companies). You will develop hypotheses and test them empirically. You will present your results in the form of a scientific conference presentation, which you will then prepare as a scientific journal paper.
You will receive intensive support throughout the entire editing process, including the provision of data, an SPSS course, and a special SPSS consultation hour.

6 credit punkts will be awarded. The following must be completed to earn them:

  • Participation in all dates of the seminar
  • Preparation and joint participation in the supervision dates of the group (Exact dates will be agreed in consultation with the group)
  • Preparation of the seminar paper in groups of two (12 - 15 pages +/- 10%)
  • Presentation of the topic of the seminar paper and interactive seminar design (about 20 minutes)
