Melina Schuh
Director and Head of the Department of Meiosis (11700) at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen
Melina Schuh studied biochemistry at the University of Bayreuth, and did her Diploma thesis in the laboratory of Stefan Heidmann and Christian F. Lehner in 2004. In 2008, she obtained her PhD in the group of Jan Ellenberg at the European Laboratory for Molecular Biology (EMBL) and at the University of Heidelberg. She then moved to Cambridge (UK), where she has been a group leader at the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Biology from 2009 until the end of 2015. Since January 2016, she is a Director at the Max Planck Institute for biophysical chemistry in Göttingen, Germany. She received several awards for her work, including the John Kendrew Young Scientist Award, the Biochemical Society Early Career Award (Cells) and the Lister Research Prize. She is also an EMBO Young Investigator, EMBO Member and a recipient of an ERC Starting Grant. Melina Schuh has three children, aged 1 year, 3 years and 5 years.
