CEWS Logo

The Center of Excellence Women and Science (CEWS) is the national hub for realization of equal opportunities for both women and men in science and research in Germany. CEWS serves as a think tank, offering impulses and new ideas and initiating processes of change in support of science. Operating in an international sphere, both independently and in cooperation with other institutions, CEWS executes German and EU projects to actively create and engage the necessary transfer processes between science and politics.

You are a female scientist? You are looking for female scientists?
The Solution: FemConsult (Check it out HERE)

At WoCaNet Career Fair, Natalie Pawlak of CEWS will present the online database FemConsult. It contains the qualification profiles of ca. 3000 German-speaking female scientists holding a PhD or habilitation. Participants come from all disciplines and are working in universities and non-university institutions, in industry and economy.
The aim of FemConsult is to increase the percentage of women recruited to professorships and to leadership positions in science and research and to support young female scientists.

Furthermore, information on the CEWS University Ranking (gender-related ranking of German universities) will be provided.

Institutional Affiliations of CEWS

CEWS was founded in 2000 as a third party funded project, 100% financed through the BMBF – Federal Ministry of Education and Research, for an initial five years. To enable the institution to continue its successful work, the decision was made in 2005 to integrate tasks of CEWS into GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. Since January 2006, CEWS is part of GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences .
