Chemistry is a multifaceted practical science and offers numerous possibilities for prospective teachers. In this degree programme at Göttingen, you will get to know and to make use of these possibilities. Alongside well-founded school-related training in Chemistry, you will receive knowledge in specialised didactics and education in preparation for being a teacher. Our six partner schools in Göttingen and southern Lower Saxony offer various options in order to get to know the teaching profession up-front as early as during your studies. Details
In the 2-subject Bachelor's programme, the students will acquire sound knowledge in the areas of General, Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry as well as - depending on the second subject selected - in the related sciences of Physics and Mathematics. The programme puts a special focus on practical work in the laboratory. This study programme in Göttingen is distinguished by its close orientation towards professional practice based on collaboration with three partner schools and working closely with the school laboratory XLAB.
In the 2-subject Bachelor's programme, the students will acquire sound knowledge in the areas of General, Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry as well as - depending on the second subject selected - in the related sciences of Physics and Mathematics. Special features are lectures in Biomolecular Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry and a focus on practical work in the laboratory. This study programme in Göttingen is distinguished by its close orientation towards professional practice based on collaboration with six partner schools and working closely with the school laboratory XLAB. A free optional prep course helps getting started with studying. Additional digital support is given, such as videotutorials or e-labcourses.
A sound knowledge of English is recommended.
The programme is organised in a modular structure, consisting of compulsory and optional modules with an orientation phase in the first and second semester. Along with the subject-specific curriculum, various skills in the area of professionalisation will be acquired.
If the goal is to become a teacher, only the following can be selected as second subjects: Biology, German, English, French, Latin, Mathematics, Physics and Spanish.
On request other combinations are possible.

Structure
In the two-subject Bachelor's programme, two subjects are studied on equal terms.
A total of 180 credits are earned for the Bachelor's degree Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).
The two subjects each account for 66 credits. The teaching profession profile accounts for 36 credits.
