Der arabisch-islamische Historiker al-Wāqidī (g. 207): Externe und interne Quellenkritik des ihm zugeschriebenen Futūḥ al-Sham

My project in the context of EDRIS deals with the internal and external textual criticism of the little studied set of works on the conquest of the Middle East by Muslims in the first/seventh and second/eighth centuries, which are conventionally ascribed to al-Wāqidī. Apart from trying to suggest an answer to the questions on the authorship and the date of development of these works, as a part of the internal criticism, I will focus on how the identity of Muslims as a newly born community in the first/seventh century has been reflected in these set of works.
