General information
The Emergency Helpine and Fault-reporting Service is the central contact point for all staff and students at the University of Göttingen for many technical questions and problems. The staff here are on duty every day, even on Sundays and bank holidays. Currently, more than 45,000 electronic systems for building technology are monitored. In addition, the office handles approximately 300 fault reports per day by telephone. This includes, for instance fire alarm systems, intrusion detection systems, elevator alarm calls, signals from heating and air conditioning systems, access control systems and also the monitoring of technology in the institutes such as freezers, plant cultivation chambers etc. The team records the incoming fault reports in a SAP system and forwards the messages immediately so that they can be dealt with by service technicians in the appropriate divisions.
Messages requiring urgent action should be reported directly on telephone number 20000. General faults should be forwarded to the service via the caretaker or building manager.
The Telephone Service is the entry portal for callers from all over the world, while at the same time acting as the University’s internal telephone information service and the telephone exchange for the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG). The Telephone Service has an electronic database currently holding 29,500 entries from the University, which is used by the operators to quickly and competently find and put calls through to the desired contact person and department. Naturally, you can also contact us to request external telephone numbers. The Telephone Service is staffed on weekdays from 8:00 to 18:00. Outside these hours, telephone calls to the Telephone Service are transferred to the of the UMG.
