Curriculum Vitae

Professor Hartwig de Haen studierte an den Universitäten Kiel und Göttingen sowie an der Michigan State University/USA. Bis 1990 war er ordentlicher Professor am Institut für Agrarökonomie der Universität Göttingen und vertrat die Bereiche Standortökonomik, Umwelt- und Entwicklungsökonomik. Während seiner akademischen Laufbahn war er Mitglied in verschiedenen Gremien der Politikberatung, einschließlich des Wissenschaftlichen Beirates beim Bundesministerium für Wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung. Ab 1990 war de Haen Beigeordneter Generaldirektor der Welternährungsorganisation der Vereinten Nationen (FAO) in Rom. Dort leitete er von 1990 bis 1994 die Hauptabteilung Landwirtschaft und von 1995 bis 2005 die Hauptabteilung für wirtschaftliche und soziale Entwicklung. Seit 2008 ist er Mitglied des Präsidiums der Welthungerhilfe und seit 2011 Mitglied des Science Policy and Advisory Panel des CGIAR Forschungsprogramms "Policies, Institutions and Markets" (PIM). de Haen ist Mitglied der Académie d'Agriculture de France.
