C02 - Site-specific Kinetics and Dynamics of Surface PCET Reactions
We will conduct experiments under well-controlled UHV conditions probing surface chemistry of model systems in high microscopic detail. Specifically, we aim to examine the reactivity of molecules related to water splitting (H2O, H2O2, OH, H2, and O2) on various single crystal ZnO surfaces. Our approach involves two key directions. First, experiments on surface reaction dynamics will provide information about the underlying potential energy surface (PES) at different surface sites (Mech1; PCET site). Second, surface site-specific reaction kinetics measurements aim to develop kinetic models of multi-step reactions on ZnO surfaces (Mech2; Enabling Catalysis).
