Dr.-Ing. Gabriela Hörig
Embedded Software Developer, Ottobock
Dr.-Ing. Gabriela Hörig (née Beltran Ullauri) is a Researcher and Embedded Software Developer at Ottobock, a world leader in the field of prosthetics, orthotics, wheelchairs, and exoskeletons. She obtained her Master’s and Doctorate degrees at the Safety Robotics and Assistive Devices Division of Nagoya University, Japan, where she focused on the study of elderly walking and drop-foot. In 2014 and 2016, she worked on Brain Machine Interfaces (BMIs) and the control of assistive exoskeletons at the Neuroscience Research Institute ATR of Japan. In 2017, she joined the Biomechatronics Group of the MIT Media Lab, directed by Prof. Hugh Herr, where she worked on proprioception feedback in lower limb prostheses.
In 2018, Gabriela entered Ottobock as a researcher for the German BMBF project INOPRO. Since then, she focuses on the control of prosthetic and orthotic legs. Her biggest motivation comes from the wish to share her happiness and faith, and the wish to give others back their ability to walk.
