The Fair enables researchers to talk informally on a one-to-one basis with a range of experts to support and enrich their experience here and help them understand all their options for taking the next steps.

Research in Europe - Information event about funding programs for early career researchers

Organised by the European Liaison Office of the German Research Organisations (KoWi) and the University of Göttingen, “Research in Europe” brings together everything early career researchers need to know about individual funding opportunities - whether you aspire to a national or international career in research. A range of research and funding organisations present their programs and institutions. There will be opportunities to discuss your individual questions at the funders' info desks, as well as Göttingen Campus Postdoc Network and Göttingen Campus support structures for early career researchers.
Students in higher semesters, graduates, PhD researchers and postdocs, as well as professors who would like to get information for the researchers they supervise, and those interested in doctoral studies, are warmly invited to join us. The event is open to everyone. People from outside Göttingen are also most welcome. The event is in English and participation is free of charge.

Course on Animal Philosophy
November 28 + 29, 2022
The PTCN coordination office has organized a course on Animal Philosophy with Frederike Zenker (Basel University) giving an overview on animal philosophy, i.e. on the question of anthropological difference or differences and similarities between humans and animals, the question of the spirit of animals, and the question of our moral duties towards animals. Over one and a half days, central concepts and theories from philosophical animal studies and animal ethics will be presented and discussed with examples.

Bernstein SmartSteps - Featuring Early Career Scientists
Starting in April 2021
The Bernstein SmartSteps series provides a unique platform for selected Early Career Scientists of the Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience to present their research projects to the scientific community. Once a month, starting in April 2021, one PhD candidate and one Postdoc who are ready to take their next (smart) step for their scientific career will discuss their research in an online seminar.

Satellite Workshop "Frontiers in the Evolution of Neuronal Computation"
September 29, 2020
Satellite Workshops of the Bernstein Conference provide a stage to discuss topical research questions, novel scientific approaches and challenges in Computational Neuroscience and related fields.
The workshop “Frontiers in The Evolution of Neuronal Computation” will present, in three topical sessions, selected lines of research at the frontier of computational neuroscience and evolutionary biology. Session “Emergence and Design of the First Nervous Systems” will focus on recent work opening novel perspectives on the original evolutionary invention of nerve cells, synapses and the first neural circuits controlling animal behavior. Session “Invariance, Universality and Optimization in the Evolution of Sensory Systems” will present research that aims to identify evolutionary invariants of sensory information processing and the mechanisms underlying its developmental and evolutionary optimization. Finally, the session “Principles of Cortical Circuit Evolution” will focus on work that strives to decipher the principles and processes underlying fundamental transformations of the circuit structure of the cerebral cortical learning machine in the evolution of modern mammals. Overall the research presented at the workshop is chosen to foster discussing, refining and advancing research questions on frontier topics in evolutionary neuroscience and to highlight the novel opportunities and challenges for computational neuroscience they offer.

15th Edition of the Symposium Physics of Living Matter (PLM 15)
October 01 – 02, 2020
Co-organised by Cambridge University and the Turing Centre for Living Systems (CENTURI), the Physics of Living Matter Symposium aims at bridging Physics and Biology by bringing together scientists from life sciences, physics and computational sciences from all over the world. In addition to an exciting programme presented by renowned international speakers, oral presentations will be selected from the submitted abstracts.
The symposium will take place as a free online webinar.
Registrations are open until September 21.
