Guest Lecture Series

Each year the RTG invites well known scholars in the field of forest sciences, biology and statistics for guest lectures.
Some of our guest lecture series is organized in cooperation with RTG 2123 "Conservation of Forest Biodiversity in Multiple-Use Landscapes of Central Europe" in Freiburg and will take place in an online format via zoom.

The next guest lecture will be given by Prof. Olle Anderbrant on July 4, 2024 at 2 pm on "Pheromones as part of integrated pest management (IPM) in forestry and agriculture".

For our previous guest lectures see the list in the right column.

In addition, EnriCo held 2 mini conferences:

"The Numbers behind Forests"

As part of our Guest Lecture Series, we have the pleasure again to welcome an incredible group of researchers for a mini conference: During the conference entitled The Numbers behind Forests, the invited researchers will offer a unique number-driven perspective on forests. The conference is part of the Forest Science Week, jointly organized with our colleagues from the Postdoc Network of the Forest Faculty. It will take place on:

Tuesday, November 28 (1 - 5 pm)
at Büsgenweg 3, room F03 [and streamed via zoom]

Target audience are faculty members, researchers, and students of our faculty and related ones (biology, agriculture).

Program: Tuesday, November 28, 2023
13:00 Welcome Notes and Introduction
13:15 Prof. William Hammond (University of Florida) (WSL): “Plant Death in the Anthropocene”
14:00 Dr. Soumen Mallick (University of Würzburg): “Ectophagous folivores do not profit from rich resources on phylogenetically isolated trees”

"From Soil to Canopy - Ecosystem functioning in temperate forests"

Inspired by the Göttingen Symposium Forests in the anthropocene", we have the pleasure to welcome an incredible group of researchers for a mini conference as part of our Guest Lecture Series: From Soil to Canopy, Ecosystem functioning in Temperate Forest. During the conference, the invited researchers will offer a unique overview of temperate forest from various theoretical and methodological angles, ranging from tree physiology and biogeochemistry to forest structure.
