Cathrin Pauly, born 1959, is a pharmacist and MBA by training. Cathrin considers start-up support essential in order to strengthen Germany’s economic situation, innovation levels in general and also to facilitate the transfer of innovation and know-how from universities and research organisations into the market. To this end she was also an executive board member of Nanobionet e. V. which supports nanobiotechnology as a key future technology. Since 2006 she has been coaching – albeit male – start-ups as an accredited coach in the High-Tech Gründerfonds. As a director of the Innovations- und Gründerzentrums Sinzig (IGZ Sinzig) from 2005 to 2006, start-up support was a main focus of activity. She actively uses and expands this knowledge as an evaluator of business competition initiatives such as Science4Life, NUK, Businessplan-Wettbewerb Berlin-Brandenburg (BPW), MedEcon Startbahn Ruhr and Start2Grow.
She considers committing time to numerous professional associations an important component of her work. Cathrin is active in networks including the DECHEMA Women’s Network. In October 2009 Cathrin received her certificate as an ‘Ambassador of Female Entrepreneurship` within the initiative ‘European Network of Female Entrepreneurship Ambassadors’ as the representative of the German delegation from the hands of the Swedish crown princess Victoria. In addition she is involved in a mentoring initiative (Cybermentor) to raise the interest of girls in the Maths, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Technology (MINT).
